Cala Galdana Resort Guide

Cala Galdana – located on the southern coast of Menorca

Cala Galdana is a popular resort that appeals to beach lovers and people who enjoy activities such as hiking, mountain biking and water sports. For those with mobility difficulties it can be quite hard as the resort is steep in places. A transfer from Menorca airport to Cala Galdana takes around 30-45 minutes, giving you plenty of time to look around the resort at the scenery as well as getting an idea of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The beach at Cala Galdana is picturesque with fine, white sands that lead down to the crystal clear waters. Pine trees back the beach putting you in a brilliant setting. There are plenty of places to stay in Cala Galdana with upper class hotels, apartments and villas available to you. All have the relevant services and facilities that you will need and range from 3-star and above.

Cala Galdana – plenty of water sports to keep you occupied

Many people choose to spend their days in Cala Galdana down at the beach. As well as sunbathing, you can try some of the many water sports that are available to you. These include snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, surfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing and parasailing. If you would rather stay out of the water then why not try a country walk in among the pines. This is both relaxing and scenic and a unique thing to do on a holiday. There are also a few nature parks around providing scenic routes. If you enjoy excursions then this is a good resort to go to as you can get boat trips and tours of the towns from Cala Galdana. There are plenty of walks to go on and bird watching trips as well as tours of prehistoric monuments. There are also plenty of other things to do such as visit the hilltop sanctuary of El Toro, play golf in Son Parc or visit isolated caves and beaches.

Cala Galdana – plenty of restaurants to choose from

There is a number of restaurants in Cala Galdana with a wide range of cuisines on offer as well. You will find Italian, Spanish, British and Chinese cuisines as well as a lot of seafood and fast food. You will find some expensive options in the resort and a very popular Tapas restaurant. The nightlife in the resort is quite tame with a few bars dotted around offering music and the restaurants. Other than that the entertainment centres in the hotels with cabaret shows and karaoke. There are a few shops for you to choose from in Cala Galdana that offer clothing, jewellery and souvenirs. There is a good bus service in Cala Galdana, taking you into other resorts nearby. As well as this, you will find ferries taking you to other resorts such as Ciudadela.

Cala Galdana – hot summers, mild winters

Cala Galdana is blessed with long, warm summers, clear blue skies and hours of sunshine. Winter in Cala Galdana is still good as it remains fairly mild. Although there is rain in the winter, it is light and moderate. There are cool breezes that sweep across the resort maintaining temperatures and making it a lot cooler for you. Summer sees temperatures reaching 30°C with 11 hours of sunshine a day. Temperatures have also been known to reach 35°C, especially during August. Very little rain falls between July and September making it a very popular summer destination. During the winter, you may only see 5 hours of sunshine and temperatures will drop to 14°C. This is between December and January, however in March, temperatures start to rise again, reaching 18°C. It is very rare that it will rain for a whole day in Cala Galdana. When it does rain, it usually clears up very quickly.
