Tenerife - The largest of all the Canary Islands
Tenerife holidays have become more and more popular over the years. The sun shines throughout the day during summer months and there is always something for everyone to do both day and night. A main attraction of Tenerife is Mount Teide; the extinct volcano that has been made into a National Park. This can be seen from the lively resort of Playa de las Americas on a clear day. There are many resorts in Tenerife, all offering something different. Tenerife is the most popular holiday destination all year round. Many British travellers come to Tenerife in both summer and winter, spending their Christmas' in warm weather. All types of travellers come to Tenerife including couples, families and young groups. This is because there are resorts that cater to all of these people. As well as being a highly active resort, Tenerife also offers a lot scenery to tourists. There are trees and forests everywhere and both black and white beaches. It is a very volcanic island with a lot of volcanic rock on beaches and making up a lot of flower beds. Flights to Tenerife take approximately 4.5 hours.
Tenerife – plenty to see and do both day and night
Tenerife holidays really do offer something for everyone. There are activities to be done on both land and sea. There are plenty of resorts offering you different things to do. Playa de las Americas is known for all of the 18-30's which bars and clubs open until the early hours of the morning, whereas Los Cristianos is a lot quieter, offering cafes, shops and a few bars to keep tourists occupied. If you are interested in land activities then the first thing you should do is book to climb Mount Teide. You will get a coach from your resort that takes you the majority of the way up the volcano and then it is your decision whether to go up in the cable car to the top. There are plenty of other sports and activities for you to try such as tennis, go-karting, bungee jumping and going on a balloon that is connected to the ground by a large cable. This enables you to see the whole island without being disconnected from the ground. There are many golf courses around Tenerife that you can go on and even hire equipment. There are also mini golf courses, with the most famous being in Playa de las Americas. Every water sport you can think of is located in Tenerife. These include windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, jet-skiing, para-sailing, paragliding and riding on banana boats and doughnuts. If its attractions that you are looking for then Tenerife is definitely the destination for you with the LoroParque which is full of parrots and other wildlife, the whale and dolphin boat watching trips, the Aqua park and even a zoo.
Tenerife – a wide range of resorts to see
Transport in Tenerife is quite good. There are many taxis around and buses taking you to other resorts and attractions on the island. Where ever you go in Tenerife, you are guaranteed to find brilliant food in various cuisines. Tourists are very well looked after which is why so many return to the island each year. You will find a lot of English cuisines, as well as Spanish, Italian and Chinese. Tenerife and the rest of the Canary Islands are partly tax free, so a lot of products will be cheaper in Tenerife. When going home through customs you will be treated as though you have travelled from outside the EU. Meals, drinks and things you buy in shops will all be a lot cheaper in Tenerife which is why so many people return there year after year. There are many carnivals and events that take place in Tenerife which are very important to the locals and are enjoyed by tourists all year round.
Tenerife – brilliant sunshine and warm temperatures throughout the year
Tenerife weather is one of the main reasons that people visit the island all year round. August sees around 12 hours of sunshine a day with temperatures reaching above 30C. Even in the coldest months of January and December, temperatures are above 20C, with around 5 hours of sunlight a day. If you are staying along the coast of Tenerife, then you will experience the best weather. Many people choose to take small jackets and jumpers for the evenings, but it is likely that you will not need it. The south of Tenerife sees better weather than the north, which is why more tourists tend to stay here. It is possible to see cloud at some time but the majority of the time will be blue skies and sunshine. Rainfall can occur in the winter months between November and March, but it is never too much.
