Larnaca Resort Guide
Larnaca – located on the south east coast of Cyprus
Larnaca is a brilliant resort for families and groups of singles. During the summer months it gets very busy so you are more likely to find mature couples in the lower seasons. The beaches in Larnaca are very attractive with fine, pale sands and turquoise waters. Sunbeds and parasols are available to hire and the beaches are safe to swim in. You are not short of choice for accommodation in Larnaca. There are over 80 hotels and apartments in Larnaca for you to choose from and you will find everything from self-catering to all-inclusive. There are also plenty of facilities in both the apartments and the hotels that you may find you will need. Flights to Larnaca take approximately 4.5 hours.
Larnaca – plenty of water sports to occupy you
There are plenty of water sports to choose from on the beaches of Larnaca. You will find snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, surfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, parasailing, sailing and fishing in Larnaca. If you prefer to stay out of the water, then why not try go-karting or horse-riding? These are both very popular among tourists of all ages and horse-riding is a great way to get around the resort. Camel rides are also available and exploring the town is a must. There are also plenty of excursions to do such as explore the towns, see flamingos or go on a variety of boat trips. There are also cruises to Egypt and Lebanon which take around 2 days each.
Larnaca – wide selection of places to eat out
You will find both traditional local and international cuisines in Larnaca. There is a lot of seafood on offer as well as Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, French and British cuisines. You will also find a lot of fast food available such as kebab huts and McDonald's. In some of the 4 and 5 star hotels you will find fine dining. There are plenty of bars for you to enjoy in Larnaca as well as pubs with live music and entertainment. There are also discos and nightclubs. If you want a really lively night then head to Ayia Napa. There are plenty of shops to look in where you will find souvenirs, clothing, jewellery and bags available. Public transport in the resort is good, with buses taking you in and around the resort. They will take you to other resorts such as Ayia Napa and Limassol.
Larnaca - very hot temperatures in the summer months
Larnaca is a very hot resort with temperatures sometimes reaching above 40°C. You are guaranteed to need high factor sun cream when visiting this destination. July and August are the hottest months in Larnaca with average temperatures of 35°C. You will also have 13 hours of pure sunshine a day. Winters are very short and mild with January and February being the coldest months. Even though they are cold, they still have temperatures of at least 15°C. Rainfall only occurs 40 days out of the year but this is very short lived and the sun still tends to shine. There is not always a breeze in Larnaca so many people decide to keep to the shade at times. The temperature will not fall below 30°C from June to September, leaving you with warm sea temperatures, making it perfect for water sports. The night also remains warm so it is advised that you get air conditioning in your accommodation. The warm evenings however make the famous beach parties even more popular.
